The importance of Play
Play provides opportunities for enquiry based learning and thinking
“Curiosity is the essence of human existence. ‘Who are we? Where are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?’ I don’t know. I don’t have any answers to those questions. I don’t know what’s over there around the corner. But I want to find out.”

Physical Development
There is a clear link between poor physical co-ordination in primary
school and performance in literacy and numeracy tests taken at the age

the start of school to allow children to develop the fine motor skills
required to hold a pencil in lessons. “If basic physical skills are
underdeveloped, children are going to struggle with dependent learning
tasks,” she said.
